All designs and patterns on this page are printable for your own use. We just ask that you keep the Whimsiquills name on them.

I made these designs specifically to put on Christmas cards. I used the circle border punch Dancing Daisy for the background; the tiny punched out daisy reminded me of a snowflake, but any circle border punch would look nice.

These will be attached to the cards with a removable adhesive called “Dotto Glue Dots” so they can be easily lifted off the card and hung on a tree or in a window. The designs can be assembled right on the background.

If you do not plan to use a
background, assemble them
on a piece of waxed paper.
When dry, just peel the waxed
paper off the back slowly and
add a thread or metallic cord
for a hanger.

If you click on the image you can see how the design will look on one of our colored cards. To be sure they don’t get crushed in the holiday mail you can put them in a protective mailer.

Valentine card

Here is a Valentine card using different styles of quilling.The hearts are made by alternately looping the quilling strip and then outlining the heart with crimped paper. The flowers are punch flowers which combine well with quilling. The heart cut out on the edges is backed by wide strips of quilling paper. A heart border punch was used on the card’s edges.

This little bouquet was made as an inspiration piece for the calendar. I started with a 2" circle of card stock and glued a border of 3" open heart scrolls alternating with 3" tight rolls around the edge.Then I filled in with assorted flowers. to make the card I glued the whole piece on a punched circle to dress it up.

Turkey

Make 6 wheatears using 3 different colors.

I used brown, paprika, and pumpkin, the longest strip is about 2 1/2”

Glue the wheatears together for the turkey’s tail

Make a large 24” teardrop by rolling all three colors at the same time for the body

When center of large teardrop opens, glue in a brown 12” tight roll for body.

Make 2 large marquises (12”) again rolling all three strips at the same time.

1 Pumpkin 12” tight roll for head

2 Red 1” shaped teardrops for “wattle”

2 Pumpkin 3” teardrops for legs

2 Pumpkin 3” triangles for feet

Cut small yellow triangle for beak

Arrange as shown on wax paper or backing

Jack-o-lantern

This Jack-o-lantern would look great on a card, on a string in a “not too sunny” window or on the office bulletin board. Just draw the shape of a pumpkin and fill it in with 12” (30.5 cm) marquises. There are a couple of teardrops as well.

Glue strips together, then roll into sculptured roll

After rolling into sculptured roll

Coat lightly with glue

When glue dries draw red “veins”
