Glues & Sealants
If you are a quiller, you know that when it comes to glues "less is more". You want to use the smallest amount of glue that will get the job done and when you get the job done, you don't want any glue to show onthe finished quilling. Most quillers prefer a white craft glue that dries clear. Our preference Here at Whimsiquills is a tacky glue. It doen't run and dries quickly. When working with metalic and pearl quilling strips a "fast grab" tacky glue is helpful. We even have tiny glue bottles with very fine tips so you don't get too much glue on your work.
Sealants is another story. some quillers use shellac, or varnish, some even use clear nail polish. Our preference is to keep the quilling paper looking like paper. We don't want a shiny or "plastic" looking finish to our work. We like a product called "Stiffen Stuff"; it is a spray often used on fabric to make it stiff. Several light coats on free standing quilling will firm up the paper without altering the color or adding a shine.
