- About Us
Welcome to Whimsiquills, your online source for all of your quilling supplies. We have it all: quilling papers, specialty quilling papers (gilded on edge, pearl, metallic, graduated, two tone, wide cut/specialty cut, holofoil, mixed/multi, parchment, translucent vellum strips, foil mirror paper strips & full sheets) quilling tools, books about quilling, quilling kits and pattern booklets, glues and fixatives, and even cards and novelties to put your quilling in or on. (Try saying all of that in one breath!) We pride ourselves on service and selection; we stay in touch with our customers through our email newsletter "What's New at Whimsiquills".We let you know about new products and keep you informed about discontinued products. When the paper mills change a color (hate when that happens) we try to show you both the new and old shades on the website so you know exactly what you are getting.Over the years it has become harder and harder to find quilling supplies in local craft shops. If you do find a store that even knows what quilling is the selection is very limited. Through my associations with the quilling guilds, I came to personally know the owners of some of the major quilling companies, like Lake City Crafts, Paplin Products, Quilled Creations, and J & J Quilling, so it was only natural that I started offering their quilling supplies to other quillers around the world.
Whimsiquills is a family business located in my home in Enfield, CT. My name is Pat Caputo and I am the quiller in the family and I have been quilling for more than thirty five years. I started Whimsiquills in 1981 as a way to sell some of my finished work. At the time I was an “at home mom” who loved to quill; I sold my work at home parties, craft shows and later at craft malls. I also taught quilling and gave quilling demonstrations. As my children grew up, quilling became more and more the focal point of my life. I joined the English quilling guild and authored a newsletter for American quillers for eight years. I was one of the founding members of the North American Quilling Guild and hosted three of their national conferences here in Connecticut. My designs have appeared in “The Book of Paper Quilling”, “Paper Quilling (the weekend crafter series” and “Family Circle Magazine”. I had the honor of being chosen to give a two day quilling workshop to members of the Fiber Arts and Stitchery Guild of Hawaii, (yes it was in Hawaii!) I also did a quilling segment for the DIY network; and was thrilled when I was asked to coordinate the 2007 and 2008 Quilling Design a Day Calendars for Accord Publishing. Two of my custom quilled pieces toured with Exhibits USA traveling Museum tour. You can see how quilling took over my life. I now design quilling kits for Paplin Products and of course I continue to quill. Thanks to the internet, quillers around the world can “find” each other and converse. I share my experience and expertise with other quillers through my web site and my blog (Quilling With Whimsiquills). These sites give me an opportunity to reach out to quillers I may never get to meet in person. I hope you enjoy your visit at our site, feel free to contact us with your questions or comments.
